Book Search

Recently we got the assignment to locate and check out a book concerning our research topic. I had difficulty trying to figure out where to start and what subject headings that I should search under. There were many different words that I could search but I wasn't getting the results that I needed for my project. I then searched under the subject heading "Christian resistance" and found a book by Robert Wuthnow called "America and the challenges of religious diversity". I then went to the section in the library where it was located, found it by the call number and proceeded with checking the book out. I thought that the process of locating and checking out the book was very easy.

  1. Hi Lanisha,

"Christian resistance"--this is a new term for me! I will have to learn more about that.

Have you started reading the book? Does it provide any background information for you?

I look forward to your response.

  3. I will have to put this book on my reading list.

I believe that I recommended this book in another post, or maybe during a class session, but you might also want to read "Beyond Tolerance: Search for Interfaith Understanding in America" by Gustav Niebuhr. Niebuhr actually comes from a long line of religious leaders, and his book is about religious leaders of different faiths in the United States who respect each others' beliefs while getting together to do good work. These are the stories that never make the newspapers, and I wish we had more people in the world who were like the leaders that Niebuhr profiles in his book.
